Intro

Welcome! Since we purchased our house at 19 University Drive, we have undertaken many projects. These include numerous landscaping projects, building a new shed, replacing a number of windows and the front door, painting every room in the house, replacing trim, upgrading electrical wiring and lighting, installing a propane tank and a gas stove, plumbing updates, adding window treatments and shelving, etc. But we are now undertaking our biggest construction project yet!!

The plan:

Tear off the roof and add a dormer along the back of the house (spanning 2/3 of the house)
Demolish the existing space, including existing tiny bathroom, wood-paneled walls, flooring ... everything must go
Create a new master bedroom suite with wooded views, a luxurious bathroom, and closets for two
Insulate and Re-Roof while we're at it

For this project, we have enlisted the help of some local contractors. The project has been in the planning stages since November 2005. We settled on a plan and price with the contractors in late spring (2006), and construction is slated to begin September 18th, 2006. We'll be posting periodic updates here on our website. Final Update

I've been remiss in posting the final update since we've actually been enjoying our new room instead of working on it. In February and March, we finished installing the baseboard, finished the tile in the bathroom, installed the showerhead, and put together and installed the closet systems in all three closets. We had our new bedroom furniture delivered and we moved our stuff up, sleeping in the room for the first time on March 24! Shortly thereafter we had the glass shower door installed and I tiled the backsplash on the vanity. Everything is done now except for the final inspections.
